Dorothy Rhau

Dorothy Rhau was born in Montreal in 1973. From a very young age, Dorothy was attracted to the world of entertainment and radio. Although she studied administration at McGill and worked in human resources, her passion for entertainment never left her. In 2006, while at the reigns of the Session Soul show on CIBL, she had on François Avard as a guest. Following the meeting, she shared a crazy idea with him, one that her friend (who would one day become her manager) had been insisting on for years: the idea of making the leap into comedy. He suggested that she start off with night courses.

In 2009, Dorothy met Eric Belley, former VP of Just For Laughs who opened up the doors of the École Nationale de l’Humour to her. It began with a first course: writing. She passed it! Then she faced her fear of ridicule head-on and decided to take a course in performing a number. In April 2010, she would present her first number, on “DaDa”.

October 9th, 2010, is the date that she launched her career in comedy! Comedian Boucar Diouf asked Dorothy to open for him at the Gesù Theatre by doing a routine on the earthquake in Haiti, “Le Goudougoudou”, which shook both spectators and critics with laughter.
